Dr. Heikki Irjala, MD, PhD, Adjunct Professor, is Head and Neck Surgeon and Head Physician of the ENT Department of the University Hospital of Turku. He has completed his medical degree in 1996, specialist training in ENT in 2009 and PhD degree in 2002. His PhD work was titled “An immunotherapeutic approach to cancer of the head and neck” and he has continued translational research with close connection to cancer biology and immunology laboratories in Turku University. Dr. Irjala has published 23 articles in peer reviewed international journals.
